Dicyandiamide is white crystal powder with density: 1.40g/m³(25℃), melting point: 207~212℃,stable and nonflammable in dry condition. It is soluble in water,ethanol or sparingly soluble in ether and benzene. It is a material to produce melamine guanamine , multi-resin , melamine and fire proofing agent , color fixing agent for dyeing , padding for artificial leather and additive in adhesive, used as a fertilizer, cellulose nitrate stablizer, rubber vulcanlzation accelerator, also used in the manufacture of plastic, synthetic resin, synethetic paint, cyanide compounds, or to make meianin, such as explosive materials. Dicyandiamide, commonly known as dicyandiamide, is a latent curing agent that has been used for a long time, and is widely used in coatings, single-pack adhesives, film adhesives, etc. Dicyandiamide is a white crystal with a melting point of 207~209°C, low toxicity, but insoluble in epoxy resin. According to data reports, dicyandiamide can be dissolved in epoxy resin by solvent, but at present, dicyandiamide is pulverized and mixed with epoxy resin, heated and kneaded on triple rollers, or processed by extruder. Usually the mixture without accelerator is suitable for more than half a year.
The curing mechanism of dicyandiamide is relatively complicated. In addition to four active hydrogens participating in the reaction, the cyano group is also reactive. In addition, dicyandiamide also acts as a catalytic curing agent. For E-51 epoxy resin, the theoretical dosage of dicyandiamide is 11g per 100g resin, while the actual dosage is 4-10g, especially for solid epoxy resin, the general dosage is relatively small.
